Tommy Emulates Prince of Wales Tailoring

Normally plaid won’t keep us up at night, giddy with anticipation, when it appears on the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. However we noticed there’s something going on at Tommy Hilfiger we couldn’t ignore. Well for one thing, in fall/winter 13, there was lot of Savile Row tailoring which one does not associate with Hilfiger. We sort of expected to hear The Stones blasting with guys dancing up a storm looking incredibly mod chic. Secondly, the collection was executed in a palette of navy blue, rich claret, khaki and ivory, it refashioned classic menswear references. Some pieces reflected an updated heritage look in new proportions and fabrications with a signature Prince of Wales check and graphic houndstooth. Though looking like royalty may not be your thing we had to admit, with influences of 60s popping up in pop culture, this definitely deserved a second look.
